Trust & Safety
Community Guidelines
Effective July 30, 2026
1. Our Goal
JOTA is a marketplace built on trust. We connect homeowners with independent tradesmen so home projects get done safely, fairly, and professionally. These guidelines set the expectations for everyone using the Platform.
2. Be Respectful
Treat everyone with courtesy and professionalism. Harassment, threats, hate speech, discrimination, profanity, or abusive language in messages, reviews, or disputes will not be tolerated.
3. Be Honest
Homeowners should describe projects accurately, including scope, budget, access, and any known issues.
Tradesmen should represent their skills, licensing, insurance, availability, and pricing truthfully. Do not claim qualifications you do not have.
Reviews must reflect genuine experiences. Fake reviews, paid reviews, or review manipulation are prohibited.
4. Keep Communications on JOTA
For your protection, keep quotes, agreements, scheduling, and payment arrangements inside JOTA's messaging and payment systems. Taking transactions off-platform voids payment protection and makes disputes harder to resolve.
5. Respect Commitments
Homeowners should respond to quotes and messages in a timely manner. Tradesmen should honor scheduled appointments, arrive on time, and communicate promptly if delays arise.
6. No Discrimination
JOTA does not tolerate discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic.
7. Safety First
Homeowners and tradesmen should follow applicable safety laws and common-sense precautions. Tradesmen are responsible for carrying appropriate insurance and licenses for the work they perform.
8. Prohibited Content and Conduct
You may not use JOTA to post illegal, fraudulent, misleading, spam, or harmful content. You may not solicit outside payments, advertise unrelated services, scrape data, abuse our messaging system, or interfere with the Platform's operation.
9. Reporting Problems
If you see behavior that violates these guidelines, report it through the Resolution Center or contact Koulten@usejota.com. We review reports and may suspend or remove accounts that violate our policies.
10. Enforcement
Violations may result in warnings, account suspension, permanent removal, or referral to authorities. We reserve the right to remove content or accounts at our discretion to protect the community.
11. Changes
We may update these guidelines as the Platform evolves. The current version is always posted here with its effective date.
