Quick answers about how JOTA works, how payment is protected, and what to expect on both sides of a project.
Homeowners post a project for free. Up to 3 interested local pros review the details and send a quote. You compare, message directly, and hire the one you like — JOTA holds the payment until you approve the completed work.
Yes. Posting projects, comparing quotes, and messaging pros is always free for homeowners. You only pay for the work itself, and payment is held securely until you approve completion.
When you accept a quote, you fund the job upfront. JOTA holds the money until both you and the pro mark the job complete. Only then are funds released — this protects both sides.
Open a case in the Resolution Center. Our team reviews evidence from both sides and can pause the payment release while it's investigated. JOTA does not guarantee a specific outcome or turnaround time.
Tradesmen pay a monthly Pro membership to quote and message. JOTA also charges a 5% platform fee on completed jobs — there are no per-lead fees or bidding wars.
Tradesmen can complete JOTA's verification, which reviews the documents they submit (government ID, and, for the Verified Pro badge, business, licensing, and insurance documents). JOTA confirms what has been submitted and reviewed — badges do not certify skill or guarantee workmanship. Homeowners should still confirm license and insurance status directly with the appropriate state authority before hiring for major work.
Create a free account, complete your profile, and start a Pro membership when you're ready to quote. See our Pro pricing page for details.
JOTA is available in cities across the U.S. and is expanding weekly. Post a job to see which pros are available in your area.
