Your Right to Opt Out

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have the right to direct a business that sells or shares personal information to third parties to stop doing so. This page explains how you can exercise that right with JOTA.

Even if you are not a California resident, JOTA honors opt-out requests from all users. Submitting a request will not result in discriminatory treatment.

JOTA Does Not Sell Personal Information

JOTA does not sell your personal information in exchange for money. We do not provide your name, email, phone number, address, or other contact details to third parties for monetary consideration.

We may share limited identifiers, such as device or cookie data, with analytics and advertising partners to help us understand how users interact with the Platform and to improve our marketing. Where required by law, this sharing may be considered a 'sale' or 'share' under the CCPA/CPRA, and you have the right to opt out.

How to Submit an Opt-Out Request

To opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, email us at Koulten@usejota.com with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information."

Please include the email address associated with your JOTA account so we can identify and process your request. If you have both a homeowner and a tradesman profile under the same email, your opt-out will apply to both profiles.

You do not need to create an account to submit a request. If you do not have an account, include the email address or other identifier you believe we may have collected.

Verification and Response Time

We will verify your identity to the extent reasonably necessary before processing your request. For registered users, we typically verify by matching the email address you provide with the email address on file.

We will acknowledge receipt of your request within 10 business days and respond within 45 days. If additional time is needed, we will notify you and explain the reason.

Authorized Agents

You may designate an authorized agent to submit an opt-out request on your behalf. The agent must provide signed permission from you, and we may require you to verify your identity directly with us before processing the request.

Non-Discrimination

We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights. Exercising your opt-out right will not result in denial of service, different pricing, or lower service quality.

Please note that opting out of sale/sharing does not stop all data sharing. We will still share information as necessary to operate the Platform, process payments, comply with law, protect rights and safety, and provide customer support.
